The Soroti Cricket Academy schools delivered a standout collective performance at the Girls Schools Cricket Week, with Light Secondary School crowned champions, Soroti Secondary School finishing their campaign on a winning note, and Olila High School completing a strong runner-up run.
At the centre of the academy’s success was an impressive showing across both finals and placement fixtures held at the Gulu High School Cricket Ground.

Light Secondary School completed a dominant unbeaten tournament run to lift their second Girls Schools Cricket Week title after edging defending champions Olila High School by 5 wickets in the final.
Olila were restricted to 62/8, with captain Malisa Ariokot top scoring on 22. Light’s disciplined attack, led by Ritah Alio and Teddy Anyait (3 wickets each), set the tone.
In the chase, Light held firm despite pressure, with Ruth Kulume (15*) and Susan Akidi (14) guiding them to 65/5 in 18.2 overs, sealing yet another triumph over Olila in a repeat of recent finals.
Soroti SS End Campaign on Winning Note
Soroti Secondary School wrapped up their nationals campaign with a composed 6-wicket victory over St. James SS.
St. James were restricted to 48/9, before Soroti chased down the target in 17 overs, led by a steady unbeaten 8 from Mary Nabuma and strong support from Sharon Ainyo.
The Soroti bowling unit impressed once again, with Judith Iroo, Vivian Alibo, and Sharon Ainyo applying consistent pressure throughout.
Olila SS Finish Strong but Fall Short in Final
Olila High School showed resilience throughout the tournament but fell short at the final hurdle despite a disciplined bowling effort from Divine Gabriella Nyamer, who returned 1/7 in four overs and was named Player of the Match.
