Coaching Program

At Soroti Cricket Academy (SCA), we offer structured coaching programs designed to develop players at all skill levels—beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Our goal is to create well-rounded cricketers with strong technical, tactical, and mental abilities, preparing them for both local and international competitions.

Beginner Program (Foundation Level)

Target Group:

  • Boys and girls aged 6-12 years.
  • Players with little or no prior cricket experience.

Training Schedule:

  • Saturday Coaching: Every Saturday from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM at Soroti Cricket Grounds.

  • School Sessions: Conducted in various partner schools during PE lessons.

  • Holiday Camps: Intensive training during the January and December school holidays.

Program Overview:

  • Introduction to basic cricket skills (batting, bowling, fielding).

  • Development of hand-eye coordination and reflexes.

  • Fun mini-games to build interest and confidence.

  • Emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship.

Success Story:

Nandera Immaculate joined the beginner program at age 7 and is now a key player     in the SCA Rising Stars Women’s team at just 14!

Goal

  • Ensure all players understand cricket fundamentals and enjoy the game.

  • Prepare young cricketers for transition into competitive teams.

Intermediate Program (Development Level)

Target Group:

  • Players aged 13-18 years who have mastered the basics and want to refine their skills.
  • School players aiming to compete at district and national levels.

Training Schedule:

  • Weekend Training: Saturday & Sunday (8:00 AM – 12:30 PM).

  • School Sessions: Held in selected schools, Monday to Friday.

  • Special Camps: Intensive preparation camps before major competitions (e.g., Schools Cricket Week).

Program Overview:

  • Refining batting techniques (shot selection, power hitting, strike rotation).

  • Bowling strategies (variations, accuracy, and reading batters).

  • Advanced fielding drills (diving stops, catches, quick reflexes).

  • Fitness & conditioning sessions.

Success Story:

Ariokot Malisa was part of our Intermediate Program and earned selection for the  Uganda U19 national team after excelling in Schools Cricket Week!

Goal

  • Prepare players for competitive club and school-level cricket.

  • Help players transition into academy club teams.

Advanced Program (High-Performance Level)

Target Group:

  • Players 15+ years competing at national and international levels.
  • Club players aiming for national team selection.

Training Schedule:

  • High-Performance Training: January and December camps.

  • Tactical Sessions: Match simulations and strategy discussions.

Program Overview:

  • Advanced batting drills (spin play, reverse sweeps, power-hitting mechanics).

  • Bowling specializations (death bowling, swing control, yorker accuracy).

  • Mental conditioning: Handling pressure in high-stakes match situations.

  • Special one-on-one coaching for elite players.

Success Story:

Amongin Naome trained under this program and became one of Uganda’s leading wicket-takers in the Women’s National Team!

Goal

  • Develop national team-caliber cricketers.

  • Ensure academy players dominate Uganda’s domestic leagues.
