What: Soroti City Cricket Club vs Wanderers Cricket Club
When: Saturday, February 28, 2026
Where: Serenity Oval, Kamengo
Our men’s team is set to begin the Cricket Uganda 50 Overs season with an exciting first-ever clash against Wanderers at the Serenity Oval in Kamengo, competing in the Silver Category.
This match marks a historic encounter for both sides.
Wanderers, relegated last season, enter the Silver Category with a dramatically reshaped squad, looking to rebuild and make an impact.
Our team, meanwhile, has retained much of last season’s core, providing continuity as we aim to build on previous successes.
While our squad remains largely unchanged at the start of the season, we plan to welcome additional players from local schools as the season progresses.
Our primary goal this year is to compete in all 50-over matches while giving our development players as much playing time as possible.
Last season, our men’s team competed in Group A of the UCA Men’s 50 Overs League-Championship, delivering a strong and competitive campaign.
We faced tough opposition, including Kutchi Tigers B, Nile CC, KC Budo CC, Patidar CC, Entale, and Jinja SS CC.
We finished third in the group, winning four of six matches and amassing eight points with an impressive net run rate of +1.0147.
Season highlights included a five-wicket win over Jinja SS CC, a 37-run victory against KC Budo CC, a 40-run win over Patidar CC, and a dominant 271-run triumph over Entale, showcasing the strength of our batting and bowling.
Despite some setbacks, including an 83-run loss to Kutchi Tigers B via the Duckworth-Lewis method and a forfeited match against Nile CC, our men’s team proved highly competitive, narrowly missing a top-two finish.
This season, we aim to go one step further.
Wanderers, in contrast, have overhauled their squad, releasing over ten players while introducing rising talents Julius Okema and Edward Mugwanya.
Their focus this season is on rebuilding and developing their squad in the Silver Category.
With stability in our ranks, our men’s team enters this historic first meeting with confidence, while Wanderers will be looking to make a statement.
Notably, we did not participate in the UG20 tournament last year, but our men’s team has secured strong backing from our sponsors, The Den and Zimbali Bistro Lounge, ensuring robust support both on and off the field.
We look forward to a thrilling season and hope to make our supporters proud from the very first match.
