Soroti Cricket Academy is a community-based organization, established in 2014 in Soroti
City.
The academy is dedicated to nurturing the game of cricket among vulnerable young boys
and girls from urban poor settlements within Soroti. It works with 1200 boys in 18
primary schools and 7 secondary schools within Soroti to develop and promote the sport of
cricket.
The academy has achieved significant success in producing talented cricketers. 25 girls
from the academy have represented Uganda at the national level, demonstrating
the effectiveness of the academy's development programs.
Furthermore,Schools affiliated with the academy, such as Light Ss and Olila Higher
School,
have consistently excelled in national competitions. Both schools have been crowned
national champions in the secondary competitions since 2019.
Beyond the sport itself, Soroti Cricket Academy has supported many young girls and boys
pursue
education. The academy has paid for some cricketers to study at university and secured
bursaries.
However, this is limited to about 40 girls annually in Olila High School and Light Ss.
